Mandatos are commands, and they come from a tense called the Subjunctive, which is generally used to express uncertainty. *To respectfully tell someone to do or not to do something, you will use usted/ustedes commands. *To give instructions or a recipe Saquen una hoja de papel. ¡Abran los libros!

To form mandatos, start with the “yo form” of the verb in the present tense. Drop the –o, and add the opposite endings!
