To answer for 1 o’clock: Use: ES LA una (en punto) de la mañana/tarde. To answer for 2 o’clock (and rest of the hours) Use: SON LAS dos (en punto)… de la mañana/tarde. “En punto” means “on the dot” / “sharp.” Use “de la mañana” for AM Use “de la tarde” for PM before 6. Use “de la noche” for PM after 6. Only use “en” la mañana… when you are NOT telling the time. For example, I will see you in the morning. (NO specific time.)

FALTA (un cuarto) para la una = 12:45 FALTAN (quince minutos) para la una = 12:45 Falta(n) means “is (are) missing.” Use FALTA with singular words like un cuarto or un minuto, and FALTAN with plurals lile the rest of the numbers.
