2 Read the following sentence:
My grandmother is more artistic than my grandfather. What is the word in blue?

3 Read the following sentences:
My grandmother is more artistic than my grandfather. Mi abuela es más artística que mi abuelo. Find differences and similarities in both sentences.

4 Read the following sentences:
My little sister is prettier than my big sister. Mi hermana menor es más bonita que mi hermana mayor. Find differences and similarities in both sentences.

5 Read the following sentences:
My sisters are as funny as my dad. Mis hermanas son tan cómicas como mi papá. Find differences and similarities in both sentences.

6 The adjectives agree with the first noun.
To make comparisons in Spanish, use one of these phrases with an adjective to compare two things. Mi perro es más bonito que tu gata. (My dog is prettier than your cat) The adjectives agree with the first noun.

7 The adjectives agree with the first noun.
más… que (more… than) ? Mi abuela es más artística . que mi tío. mi padre. mi primo. mi madre. My grandmother is more artistic than my uncle. The adjectives agree with the first noun.

8 menos… que (less… than)
? Mi tío es alto menos . que su hermano. My uncle is less tall than his brother The adjectives agree with the first noun.

9 The adjectives agree with the first noun.
tan… como (as… as) ? Paula es tan cómica . como Mario. Paula is as funny as Mario. The adjectives agree with the first noun.

10 When a comparison does not involve an adjective, use these phrases:
más que… more than menos que… less than tanto como… as much as

11 Examples: Más que… Me gustan las papas fritas más que los perros calientes. I like french fries more than hot dogs.

12 Examples: Menos que… Me gusta viajar en automóvil menos que en avión.
I like to travel by car less than by airplane.

13 Examples: Tanto como… Tu prima habla por telefono tanto como mi hermana menor. Your cousin speaks on the phone as much as my little sister.

14 There are a few irregular comparative words
There are a few irregular comparative words. They agree in number with the first noun: mayor(es) older menor(es) younger mejor(es) better peor(es) worse Examples…

15 mayor(es) older Tus abuelos son mayores que mis abuelos. mejor(es) better Estas camisetas son mejores que esas.

16 When saying more than/ less than + number, de is used instead of que:
Tengo más de veinte primos. I have more than twenty cousins. más de + number (more than) menos de + number (less than)

17 mayor and menor are used to compare people’s ages:
Yo soy mayor que mi hermana Mitzaida pero menor que mi hermana Josenaida. I'm older than my sister Mitzaida but younger than my sister Josenaida.

18 mejor and peor are the comparative forms of bueno and malo:
Ana es mejor estudiante que yo. Ana is a better student than I am. mejor : bueno = better : good peor : malo = worse : bad

19 Compara… Dos personas famosas. Dos deportes.
Dos comidas o restaurantes. Dos escuelas. Dos estudiantes de la clase.
