Academy Excellence Model Guides NetAcad success leads and academy managers in understanding the cause and effect relationship between the academy’s actions and results Provides an inclusive list of criteria and factors that enable excellence, and associated performance measurements for results Aligned with major business excellence models (EFQM, Malcolm Balridge) Academy Self-Assessment Tool Allows academies to assess their degree of excellence, and provides a structured approach to understanding academy strengths and opportunities for improvement Provides a scoring mechanism to help guide change and manage improvement efforts Academy Success Dashboard A tool for historical analysis of selected performance measures for Cisco Academies. Academy Excellence Community Provides a resource for inspiration and learning for academies. Includes a set of stories told by academies and organized around factors of excellence. After the self-assessment, academies are asked to share good practices that have led to their success through an online forum that promotes discussion, collaboration, and innovation. Aligns with the Academy Excellence Model Comprised of the same six criteria and sub- criteria than the Academy Excellence Model. Nearly every academy excellence factor is represented by one or more questions in the self-assessment tool A scoring mechanism is provided to plan and manage improvement projects and to facilitate progress tracking The self-assessment focuses on the operation of an academy, not the operation of the educational institution to which it belongs. The Online Self-Assessment Tool aligns with the Academy Excellence Model Comprised of the same six criteria and sub-criteria than the Academy Excellence Model The first five sections (Academy Management, The Academy Team, Resources, Student Teaching & Learning, and Partnerships) are “enablers” and include a total of 60 questions. These enablers cover what the academy does. The sixth section is called Results and includes 13 questions. The results are what an organization achieves. To improve the results, an academy must improve what it does. Nearly every academy excellence factor is represented by one or more questions in the self-assessment tool A scoring mechanism is provided to plan and manage improvement projects and to facilitate progress tracking The self-assessment focuses on the operation of an academy, not the operation of the educational institution to which it belongs

Facilitate an internal dialogue about quality and develop a mutual language for quality-related subjects inside the academy Create a more collaborative environment and focus on common goals To check that the institution is meeting the needs of both its stakeholders (such as the hosting institution, funding agencies, and national or local government) and the students participating in the courses (who are a group with specific and diverse needs). Competition Content and Course Eligibility
CCNA CCENT IT Essentials Content is CCNA certification skills, soft skills, and IoE Students must be currently enrolled in CCNA 3 or 4 or have completed CCNA 3 or 4 with a course end date in the past 10 months (from the date Registration opens) Eligible courses CCNA R&S: Scaling Networks CCNA R&S: Connecting Networks CCNA D: Introducing Routing and Switching in the Enterprise CCNA D: Designing and Supporting Computer Networks CCNA E: LAN Switching and Wireless CCNA E: Accessing the WAN Content is CCENT certification skills, soft skills, and IoE Students must be currently enrolled in CCNA 1 or 2 or have completed CCNA 1 or 2 with a course end date in the past 10 months (from the date Registration opens) Eligible courses CCNA R&S: Introduction to Networks CCNA R&S: Routing and Switching Essentials CCNA D: Networking for Home and Small Businesses CCNA D: Working at a Small-to-Medium Business or ISP CCNA E: Network Fundamentals CCNA E: Routing Protocols and Concepts Content is IT Essentials course skills, soft skills, and IoE Students must be currently enrolled in an IT Essentials course or have completed IT Essentials with a course end date in the past 10 months (from the date Registration opens) Eligible courses IT Essentials Competition Structures: CCNA – geared toward CCNA certification, IoE and soft skills CCENT – geared toward CCENT certification, IoE and soft skills IT Essentials – geared toward IT Essentials course, IoE and soft skills Regions can opt for a proctored model. This model requires instructors to also enroll in the competition and they will then be moved from Competitor role to Instructor-Observer role. This role add their name to a drop down list of the Proctor Information Task in which students complete during Registration rather than the WebEx selection task. Proctors selected in the task will be sent an with the exam passwords for Round 1 along with instructions to proctor their students during the Round 1 dates. This model requires Instructor participation but is good for areas where bandwidth is low and joining a WebEx session for all individuals could be problematic. Competitors who meet course eligibility for two or all three competitions must only select one (CCNA, CCENT or IT Essentials) to compete in. If students have completed both CCNA 3 and 4, they must compete in CCNA. CCENT is not an option for them. Beginning with 2015, Competitors are eligible to compete in CCNA, CCENT and IT Essentials one time so be strategic on which year is best.
