2 Metas de Aprendizaje: Students will be able to use the preterite tense in Spanish to talk about events that happened in the past. Students will focus on the verbs that are irregular in the past tense.

3 ¿Cuándo se usa? 1. I= Interuption 2. C= Countable actions
Ellos bailaban cuando de repente la música terminó. 2. C= Countable actions Ellos bailaron una noche. 3. M= Moment specific Ellos bailaron a las 7:30 el viernes, hace dos semanas. 4. A= Action completed or series of events Ella supo que él quiso llamarla el otro día. Ellos se vistieron, salieron y fueron al baile. 5. D= Description (event) El baile fue divertido.

7 Irregulars Irregulars only in the YO form -car -> -qué

8 Third person irregulars
Some verbs only have a stem change in the third person in the preterite. Note these are –ir stem changing verbs.
