3 Possessive adjectives and pronouns in English
An adjective describes a noun The big house la casa grande The new friend el amigo nuevo A possessive adjective shows personal relationship or possession (still describes noun) It’s my house es mi casa es la casa mía She is his friend ella es su amiga es un amiga suya A pronoun replaces a noun (can stand in for a noun) The big house is yellow. It has a pool. La casa grande es amarillo. La tiene una piscina The new friend is nice. She is funny. La amiga nueva es amable. Ella es cómica. A possessive pronoun also shows personal relationship, and replaces the noun It’s my house  it’s mine es mi casa  es la mía She is his friend  she is his. Ella es su amiga  es la suya

4 Possessive adjectives have 2 forms
Possessive adjectives – short form Mi(s) - mine Tu(s) - yours Su – his/hers/its - ours Sus – theirs (these all come BEFORE the noun) Possessive adjectives – long form (aka stressed) Mío(s), mía(s) – mine, of mine Tuyo(s), tuya(s) – yours, of yours Suyo, suya – his/hers/its, of his, of hers Nuestro(s), nuestra(s) – ours, of ours Suyos, suyas – theirs, of theirs (these all come AFTER the noun) BOTH LONG AND SHORT FORMS MUST AGREE IN GENDER AND IN NUMBER WITH THE NOUN THEY DESCRIBE
