2 Metas de Aprendizaje Students will review the present perfect tense in Spanish. Students will be able to write past participles, both regular and irregular, in Spanish. Students will be able to use the present perfect tense in their written and spoken Spanish.

3 El Presente Perfecto The present perfect is a compound tense because it consists of two parts – the present tense of the verb HABER and the PAST PARTICIPLE The past participle is formed by adding: -ado to the stem of –ar verbs -ido to the stem of –er and -ir verbs vivir: vivido cambiar : cambiado tener : tenido

5 El Presente Perfecto The present perfect tense is used when speaking of a past event without reference to any specific moment. It brings the action right up to the present. It is used generally in Spanish just as in English: to talk about what someone has done or what has occurred. It usually refers to a recent past.

6 Useful Expressions: Some time expressions frequently used with the present perfect are: ya already, so far todavía no still (have) not hasta ahora until now jamás never, ever nunca never, ever En tu vida, ¿has viajado a México? No, no he ido nunca a México (jamás). Sí. Ya he estado tres veces.

7 Placement The verb HABER and the PAST PARTICIPLE are never separated.
Ella ha llegado pero sus amigos no han llegado todavía. No ha hablado con ellos tampoco.

8 Irregular Past Participles:
