Describing what has or has not happened

2 The present perfect is formed by using the present tense of haber and the past participle.

3 The present tense forms of haber are:
he hemos has habéis ha han

4 1. Drop the -ar, -er, or -ir of the infinitive
How do I form a past participle??? 1. Drop the -ar, -er, or -ir of the infinitive 2. Add -ado (-ar verbs) or -ido (-er and -ir verbs)

5 hablar- hablado comer- comido vivir- vivido (Sí, es muy fácil.)

6 Remember: The present perfect tense is formed by using a present tense form of haber + the past participle.

7 Examples: La señora García ya ha comprado el coche. Mis estudiantes han aprendido mucho. ¿Alguna vez has ido a la playa? Note: Present perfect in English is “has or have done something.”

there are irregular past participles! Los irregulares: abrir- abierto morir-muerto decir- dicho poner- puesto descubrir- descubierto romper- roto escribir- escrito ver- visto hacer- hecho volver- vuelto

9 Más ejemplos: ¿Ya has visto la nueva película de Disney? Mi mamá ya ha hecho todo el trabajo para la fiesta. Pero, señor, no he escrito el ensayo todavía.

10 Remember: forms of haber and the past participle form a unit that cannot be separated by any other words. ¿Has visto a la hermana de Pedro? No, no la he visto todavía. ¿Ya hemos terminado?
