3 Tag Questions Tag questions are used when the speaker is trying to involve the listener in the conversation. The listener is put in the position of agreeing or disagreeing with the speaker. They are formed by adding ¿no? or ¿verdad? at the end of a sentence. When the sentence is negative only ¿verdad? should be used. Using ¿no? after a another no is a no-no.

4 Tag Questions Examples/ Modelos: Eres de Trussville, ¿no? Eres de Trussville, ¿verdad? No eres de Springville, ¿verdad? No eres perezoso, ¿verdad?

5 Sí/No Questions Yes / No questions can be answer with sí or no. These questions normally start with the verb. The subject in Spanish is often after the verb or at the end of the sentence. Modelo: Q: ¿Necesita María una hoja de papel? A: Sí, María necesita una hoja de papel. A: No, María no necesita una hoja de papel.

6 Sí/No Questions Modelos: ¿Busca María una hoja de papel en el Husky Zone? Sí, Maria busca una hoja de papel en el Husky Zone. No, Maria no busca una hoja de papel en el Husky Zone.

7 Sí/No Questions Change the following statements to sí/no questions by placing the verb first in the sentence: Diego compra el papel. ¿Compra Diego el papel? Diego habla con el empleado. ¿Habla Diego con el empleado?

9 Information seeking questions The third type of questions words request information. These questions begin with a question word like qué, dónde, or Cuándo. Modelos: Q: ¿Qué necesita ella? A: Ella necesita el papel. Q: ¿Cuánto papel necesita ella? A: Ella necesita una hoja (de papel).
