María cepilla al perro. Marco baña al perro. María se cepilla. Marco se baña. In the top two sentences the subject (María/Marco) perform the action. The dog receives the action. In the bottom two sentences, the subject (María/Marco) both perform AND receive the action. The “se” indicates that the action of the verb is reflected back to the subject.

3 What does a reflexive pronoun do?
A reflexive pronoun shows that the direct object is the same as the doer. For example: Sue Sue bathes herself. subject reflexive pronoun
