2 Los pronombres personales (Subject pronouns)
The subject tells who is doing the action in a sentence Mary sings. We can substitute a pronoun for Mary. She sings very well.

4 Los verbos A verb is the action in a sentence.
The dictionary form of the verb is called the infinitive. cantar = to sing bailar = to dance patinar = to skate

5 What if we want to say I sing . . .
How do we say. . . I like to sing. Me gusta cantar. What if we want to say I sing . . .

6 Los verbos To tell who is doing the action, we must change the infinitive. For example . . . (Yo) canto muy bien. (I sing very well.) This is called conjugation.

7 Every verb has 2 parts: Stem + ar = Infinitive cant + ar = cantar

8 Los verbos To change or conjugate a verb we drop the -ar and add endings.

9 Regular -ar Verb Endings
-o -as -a -amos -áis -an

10 cantar cant + ar cant o cant amos cant as cant a cant an (cantáis) yo
nosotros/as (cantáis) tú cant as él, ella, Ud. ellos, ellas, Uds. cant a cant an
