1 3. Stored value cards Stored value cards are the newest kind of plastic card. At the moment, they are not widely available but, If these cards go well, they will become as familiar as the other forms of plastic money. Stored value cards are also known as electronic purses. They are mainly designed to pay for small things. Phone cards are a simple example of these cards which are already commonplace. There are basically two kinds of stored value card: disposable cards which are "loaded" with a fixed sum and then thrown away when "empty" and re-loadable cards which allow you to load funds at specially adapted machines.
