2 PRELIMINARY CHAPTERS El abecedario –What are the extra letters in the Spanish alphabet? Los números  Cardinal numbers 1-10;20-100 (50);100 ;101-1,000 (500) –Which numbers have an accent mark? Dieciséis, veintidós, veintitrés, veintiséis 5, 15, 50, 500, 5,000 (c,q,c,q,c) –Cardinal numbers are used for quantity, years and mathematical problems.  Ordinal numbers 1 st -10 th Primer/primero, segundo, tercero, cuarto, quinto, sexto, séptimo, octavo, noveno y décimo.  Ordinal numbers are used for position, recipes, steps.  EXCEPTION: you use cardinal numbers for dates except for the 1 st of every month; you must use the ordinal number.

12 NEGATIVES AND AGREEMENT Negatives: –The word not for us is : no –It will always go before and conjugated verb or direct and indirect object pronouns; reflexive and more.. –Example: Yo no juego baloncesto No me gusta la pizza No lo compro. No se cepillo los dientes. “agree to disagree” Agreement with indirect object pronouns: –positive sentences Me gusta la pizza. A mí también. – negative sentences (no) No me gusta la pizza. 13 DISAGREEMENT To disagree, you just have to change the sentences: –Positive would change to negative: Me gusta bailar; A mí no megusta bailar. –Negative would change to positive: No me huat bailar; A mí me gusta bailar. Other verbs:

14 DESCRIPTIONS Adjectives: –Adjectives are used to describe a person, place or thing. In Spanish, they are divided into: –Feminine/masculine –Singular/ plural Exception –Any verb that originally ends in an “a” can’t be changed to an “o” but they can be singular or plural Example: deportista.
