2 Verbos como gustar Verbs like gustar, encantar, and interesar are used to talk about what people like (gustar), love (encantar), or are interested in (interesar).

3 Verbos como gustar In these type of verbs an indirect object pronoun (me, te, le, nos, *os, les) always goes before the verb. There are only two possible verb endings and they agree with the thing/things that are liked or disliked (NOT the subject of the sentence).

4 Verbos como gustar Examples: If the noun is singular, use gusta
No me gusta la pizza. If the noun is plural, use gustan Me gustan mis clases. To talk about what a person likes to do, use gusta + INFINITIVE ¿Qué te gusta hacer?....Me gusta leer.

5 Verbos como gustar To add emphasis to the person you are talking about you can add “a+ noun/pronoun” to the beginning of the sentence. (Remember the 4 step process from Spanish 2??)

8 We don’t like to be scared
A nosotros no nos gusta tener miedo.

9 (A mí) me encanta estar ocupado.
I love to be busy. (A mí) me encanta estar ocupado.

10 A ustedes les gustan deportes.
You guys like sports A ustedes les gustan deportes.

11 You love to go to the pool
A ti te encanta ir a la piscina.

12 (A mí) me encanta ser rubio.
I love to be blond (A mí) me encanta ser rubio.

13 A él y a mí nos encantan ensaladas.
He and I love salads A él y a mí nos encantan ensaladas.

14 You (formal) don’t like to be sick
A usted no le gusta estar enfermo.

15 The woman likes to practice
A la mujer le gusta practicar.

16 A ustedes les encanta el fútbol.
