3 9/2/10 Algunas funciones claves asignadas por el CONVENIO CONSTITUTIVO: (Artículo 3) 1. Determinar, después de efectuar los estudios técnicos necesarios, cuáles enfermedades y plagas de carácter fitozoosanitario significan un peligro real o potencial de importancia económica regional 1. Promover la adopción, de políticas comunes de Salud Animal, Sanidad Vegetal y Cuarentena de la Región y las acciones que se emprendan con fines de prevención, control y/o erradicación de plagas y enfermedades agropecuarias de importancia e interés regional 1. Promover la armonización de legislación en materia de Sanidad y Cuarentena Agropecuaria 1. Asesorar y evaluar el funcionamiento de los Servicios de Salud Animal, Sanidad Vegetal y Cuarentenarios de los Estados miembros que lo soliciten 1. Mantener informados a los Estados miembros sobre las condiciones fitozoosanitarias que prevalezcan en la Región y fuera de ella Introducción

4 9/2/10 Y además en Disposiciones Generales: Art. 37: Los gobiernos de los Estados miembros se obligan a informar periódicamente al OIRSA sobre sus respectivas condiciones de Sanidad Fitozoosanitaria Art. 38: Cuando exista la presencia o amenaza de plagas o enfermedades extrañas en sus países, que pongan en peligro la producción agropecuaria de la Región, los Estados miembros otorgarán al OIRSA las facilidades para apoyar las acciones de prevención, control, erradicación y de cuarentena Introducción Organismo en acción
