6 Dictionary Definition Definición de diccionario Chaplain 1: a clergyman in charge of a chapel 2: a person chosen to conduct religious exercises (as at a meeting of a club or society) 3: a clergyman appointed to assist a bishop (as at a liturgical function) Chaplaincy 1: the position of a chaplain Capellán 1: Eclesiástico que obtiene alguna capellanía. 2: Sacerdote que ejerce sus funciones en una institución, comunidad o casa particular. Capellanía 1: Fundación en la cual el capellán tiene derecho a cobrar el fruto de ciertos bienes a cambio de la obligación de celebrar misas y otros actos de culto.

Personas amables a quienes les gusta visitar a otros.

9 A Proposed Definition Definición sugerida Chaplain 1: a skilled professional trained in the art of listening, guiding, and being a healing presence to those in need of wholeness. 2: a leader, motivator, and advocate of the mission, vision and values set forth by the institution in which they practice. 3: a minister who has been endorsed by their faith tradition and appointed to lead in liturgical functions. Capellán 1: un profesional entrenado en el arte de escuchar, guiar y ser una presencia sanadora a quienes necesitan cuidado holístico. 2: un líder, motivador, y defensor de la misión, visión y valores establecidos por la institución en la que práctica. 3: un ministro que ha sido respaldado por su tradición de fe y nombrado para dirigir en las funciones litúrgicas.

22 Healing Begins with You La sanación comienza contigo Before getting curious about who someone else is, get curious about who you are.  What is your personality style?  How has your family history influenced who you are now and how you act today?  What significant life experiences have molded you, and how?  What are your important needs? Antes de tener curiosidad por conocer la vida de otros, conócete a ti mismo.  ¿Cuál es tu estilo de personalidad?  ¿Cómo te ha moldeado tu historia familiar para ser la persona que eres ahora?  ¿Qué experiencias significativas te han moldeado, y cómo?  ¿Cuáles son tus necesidades más importantes?

23 Listening is a Dying Art – Revive It! Escuchar es un arte que esta falleciendo ¡Revívelo! Attending = The way you orient yourself physically and psychologically to the person talking. Complete Listening = Listening beyond the content of the words being spoken to you.  Verbal, non-verbal, social and cultural context, incongruence in story. Listening to Oneself = Having a second ear lightly tuned to oneself. Atender = La forma de orientarse física y psicológicamente a la persona que habla. Escuchar completamente = Escuchar más allá del contenido de las palabras que se hablan hacia usted.  Verbal, no verbal, contexto social y cultural, incongruencia en el relato. Escucharse a uno mismo = Tener un segundo oído ligeramente en sintonía con uno mismo.

24 Listening is a Dying Art – Revive It! Escuchar es un arte que esta falleciendo ¡Revívelo! Empathy = The skill that enables you to communicate your understanding of the patient’s world. The Art of Inviting = Asking questions or making statements that prompt the patient to explore more when he fails to do so spontaneously. Advanced Empathy = Sensing meanings of which the patient is less aware. Listening for the partially expressed, for the message behind the words. Empatía = La habilidad que permite comunicar tu comprensión del mundo del paciente. El arte de invitar = Hacer preguntas o hacer declaraciones que incitan al paciente a explorar más cuando no lo hace espontáneamente. Empatía avanzada = Detección de significados de los cuales el paciente esta menos consciente. Escuchando lo expresado parcialmente, por el mensaje detrás de las palabras.
