Preterite of – IR stem changing verbs Avancemos 2 Preterite of – IR stem changing verbs (also known as SOLE verbs) P178 in text
Preterite of – IR stem-changing verbs We already know that conjugating verbs that are stem-changers into the preterite tense is different depending upon the type of verb (-AR, -ER, -IR). Nosotros and vosotros will not stem change at all in the preterite tense. However, some - IR verbs such as pedir, preferir, and dormir will have a spelling change in the 3rd person forms (usted/él/ella & ustedes/ellos/ellas – these changes are in the sole of the boot)
Preterite of – IR stem-changing verbs The stem change in the preterite tense will be different from the present tense. Stem changes will only be e-i and o-u, regardless of their stem change in the present tense. There are not any e-ie or o-ue stem changers in the preterite tense.
