Cultural Note: Written Spanish á, é, í, ó, ú (accents) Put emphasis on a syllable ñ (tildes) Make a “ny” sound ¿Cómo…? (question marks) Let you know ahead of time to read it like a question ¡Qué…! (exclamation points) Let you know ahead of time to read it like an exclamation el / la (both mean “the”) There are actually 4 words for “the” in Spanish. We’ll learn more about that later.
