The verb TENER means TO HAVE. It uses the ER verb endings, except in the YO form
However, the verb TENER is an IRREGULAR verb. IRREGULAR VERBS SHOULD ALWAYS BE MEMORIZED

Yo tengo (I have) Tú tienes (you have) Él/ella tiene (he/she has) Usted tiene (you (fml) have) Nosotros tenemos Ellos/Ellas tienen (they have) Ustedes tienen (You guys have)
As you know, TENER is sometimes used where in English we would use a form of the verb TO BE.
Tener sed Tener hambre Tener frío Tener miedo Tener razón Tener calor To be thirsty To be hungry To be cold To be scared To be right To be hot
The verb TENER is also used to talk about your age. In English we say: I am ____ years old. In Spanish they say I have _____ years. Example: Yo tengo 14 años. I am 14 years old. Ella tiene 16 a ñ os. She is 16 years old.
I have blond hair. We have a cat. They are afraid/scared. We are hungry. You (inf) have a basketball game. Yo tengo pelo rubio. Nosotros tenemos un gato. Ellos tienen miedo. Nosotros tenemos hambre. Tú tienes un partido de básquetbol.
