Las diferencias  Saber and Conocer both mean to know but can not be used interchangeably.  Saber is used for knowing facts, and also means to know how to do something. ¿Saben uds la respuesta? Do you know the answer? No sé jugar el baloncesto. I don’t know how to play basketball.

 Conocer is used in the sense of ‘to be acquainted with (or familiar with) people or places. ¿Conoces a mi amigo Felipe? Do you know my friend Felipe? Mi padre conoce muy bien la ciudad. My father knows the city very well.
