Present Progressive. Present Progressive in Spanish is a complex verb form that tells what is happening right now. It consists of a helping verb “estar”

The Present Progressive (El presente progresivo).
 The present progressive tense is used to talk about actions taking place at a given time.  The action has to be taking place at the time it is used.

 It states that someone is doing something right now.  The action is in progress.  It's equivalent to English sentences with “ing” am/is/are + _______ing.

Stem-changing verbs (shoe verbs) don’t change if they end in –ar or –er. They do change if the verb ends in –ir from e-i or o-u. Ejemplo: sentir-sintiendo morir-muriendo

The present participle of verbs ending in –eer is formed by replacing the –er with –yendo. Ejemplo: Leer leyendo

Reflexive verbs in the present progressive. When conjugating reflexive verbs in present progressive you may place the reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, os, se) before estar or you may place the reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, os, se) after the conjugation. Ejemplos: Lavarse Me estoy lavando las manos. Estoy lavándome las manos. Sentirse (i-e) Nos estamos sintiendo enfermos. Estamos sintiéndonos enfermos.
