LAS REGLAS There is a group of nouns in Spanish which are feminine but which use el as the singular definite article instead of la. All these words begin with a stressed a- or ha-. The indefinite article un is often used instead of una, although both are heard. However,these words are still feminine and all other modifiers (i.e. adjectives, de-monstratives, plural articles) must take feminine forms.
