Artículo (article) Identifies or specifies a noun Definite articles (the): El, la, los, las Indefinite articles (a, an): Un, una, unos, unas

Sustantivo (noun) Person, place or thing In Spanish, can be masculine (m), feminine (f) and plural (pl) El baño (m) La manzana (f) Los pantalones (m.pl) Las tijeras (f.pl)

Pronombre (pronoun) REPLACES a noun (pronouns are a type of nouns). Yo, tú, él/ella/usted, nosotros, vosotros, ellos/ellas/ustedes

Verbo (verb) Indicates action or state of being. ALWAYS ends in -ar, -er or -ir Jugar, estar Correr, ser Escribir, existir Verbs are used in many tenses (past, present, future, etc.) and are conjugated to six forms in each of the different tenses.

Adjetivo (adjective) Modifies or describes a noun or pronoun. In Spanish, it ALWAYS agrees with the noun or pronoun it modifies. Los jugadores son talentosos. La chica alta y morena es mi mejor amiga. In a mixed group, the adjective defaults to masculine plural. Laura, Rosa, Cristina y Guillermo son argentinos.

Adverbio (adverb) Modifies or describes a verb, adjective or another adverb. Commonly ends in -ly in English. The equivalent of this is -mente in Spanish. Andrés habla bien el español. Rosa está completamente feliz. Yo corro muy rápidamente.

Práctica: Identifica la parte de la oración, usando el término en español. Laura canta en la clase. Yo vivo en los Estados Unidos, pero soy mexicano. Tú llegas tarde a la escuela.
