Suffixes in Spanish ísimo ito

The suffix ísimo When adding the suffix ísimo to the end of an adjective it acts as an intensifier. This can be done instead of saying very or a lot. Study the following examples: Los estudiantes tienen mucha tarea. Los estudiantes tienen muchísima tarea. El libro es muy interesante. El libro es interesantísimo.

¿Cómo se forma? When adding the suffix ísimo to an adjective, if the adjective ends in a vowel simply drop the vowel. If the adjective ends in a consonant just add it to the end. It also changes in gender and number. Study the following examples: Los verbos son dificilísimos para recordar. La clase de español es buenísima. Las películas son aburridísimas. El chico es perezosísimo.

1. Ella es una profesora buena. 2. El gato es gordo. Una Práctica- Rewrite the sentence changing the way you write the adjective to express “extremely” 1. Ella es una profesora buena. 2. El gato es gordo. 3. El señor es tonto. 4. El examen es fácil.

Las Respuestas. … Ella es una profesora buenísima. El gato es gordísimo. El señor es tontísimo. El examen es facilísimo.

The suffix ito/ita The suffix ito(a) is added to a word to mean little or small. It can also be used to show affection. If the word ends in a vowel you need to drop it and add the suffix. If the word ends in a consonant you add the suffix to the end of the word. The suffix also agrees in gender and number with the noun. Study the following examples: abuelo= abuelito Lola= Lolita hermana= hermanita hijas= hijitas
