Irregular verbs Basically there are two types of irregular verbs: those that are irregular only in the first person singular and those that exhibit irregularities in most of their forms.

Stem-changing verbs The stem changing verbs change the stressed vowel of the stem in the following manner: e > ie, e > i, o > ue, u > ue The nosotros and vosotros form keep the vowel from the infinitive. Verbs of this kind are indicated in vocabulary lists by writing the vowel change in parenthesis: Cerrar (ie); pedir (i); poder (ue); jugar (ue)
