Reflexive Verbs Show that the person (or people or thing) doing the action of the verb does it to themselves.

How you know a verb is reflexive: The infinitive will end in –se –Ex: despertarse This is called the Reflexive Pronoun. Like other pronouns, it changes based on who is doing the action.

To conjugate reflexive verbs: 1.Ignore the pronoun. (Stick it in your pocket) 2. Conjugate the verb as normal 3. Put the pronoun before the verb and change it to match the subject.

To change the pronouns: yo… tú … usted/él/ella … nosotros … ustedes/ellos/ellas … …..…………………..me …..……………………te ………..se ……….………nos ….…se

Let’s try one: bañarse – to bathe oneself ignore the pronoun bañarse 2. Conjugate like normal (yo) baño 3. Put the pronoun back before me baño

Not all verbs are reflexive. Some verbs can be reflexive or not, depending on who is doing the action and who is receiving the action. –I bathe myself.  Reflexive –I bathe the dog.  Not Reflexive

When you have two verbs You have two options of where to put the pronoun. –Before the conjugated verb. –Yo me quiero bañar. –Attached to the end of the infinitive. –Yo quiero bañarme.
