 The reflexive pronoun goes immediately before the conjugated verb or after and attached to the infinitive, present progressive, or affirmative command.

Now let’s deal with after and attached to the infinitive….  There are 6 situations in which you will put it after and attach it to the infinitive…  tener que + infinitive  ir + a + infinitive  Después de  Antes de  Para  Two part verb combinations

But what is an

What is an infinitive???  It is the verb it the original tense, before you do anything to it… for example:  Tener  Hablar  Comer  Escribir  Querer  Necesitar

Let’s start with….

Tener que + infinitive (to have to …)  Yo tengo que cepillarme los dientes.  I have to brush my teeth.  Tú tienes que secarte el pelo  You have to dry your hair.  Él tiene que despertarse a las ocho.  He has to wake up at 8:00.  Nosotros tenemos que ducharnos.  We have to shower.  Ellos tienen que afeitarse hoy.  They have to shave today.

Now you write 2 things you have to do ….

And now…

Ir + a + infinitive (going to do …)  Voy a ducharme mañana.  Tú….  Él …  Nosotros…  Ellas…

 Tú vas a cepillarte.  Él va a secarse el pelo.  Nosotros vamos a desayunarnos a las cinco.  Ellas van a maquillarse para la fiesta.

Next is….

Después de + infinitive (After….)  Después de ducharme, yo me seco.  Después de secarme, yo me visto.  Después de vestirme, yo me desayuno.  Después de desayunarme, yo salgo de mi casa.  Now you write 4 sentences following the example above using different reflexive verbs….

And now…

Antes de + infinitive (Before…)  Antes de vestirte, tú te duchas.  Antes de ducharte, tú te cepillas el pelo.  Now you write 3 sentences with antes de using different reflexive verbs.

And…

Para + infinitive (In order to…)  Para cepillarse el pelo, Maria necesita el cepillo.  Para secarte el cuerpo, tú necesitas una toalla.  Now you do these:  Mirarse/el espejo/nos  Lavarse/el jabón/Ana

Finally…

Then of course… If 2 verbs are beside each other the 1 st verb conjugates and the 2 nd stays in the infinitive  Yo quiero levantarme a las ocho. Or  Yo me quiero levantar a las ocho.

Complete the following activity: 1.Ella ___________(ir + a + cepillarse) los dientes.
