And other boats were with him. 37 A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up.

June 21, 2009 To the early Christians this story was used again and again as a source of instruction and edification. It was used to build up the courage of the people in times of storm and stress. It showed Jesus was the eschatological Messiah they had been waiting for. He had divine power over chaos and evil, which was identified with the waters of the sea.

Esta historia fue usada muchas veces como un modo de instruir y edificar a los primeros Cristianos. Se usaba para fortalecer el valor del pueblo de Dios en tiempo de tormenta y estrés. Mostraba que Jesús era el Mesías de los tiempos escatológicos (los últimos tiempos); aquel que estaban esperando. Él tenia poder divino sobre el caos y sobre el mal, que se identificaba con las aguas del mar.

Nothing bothered the Lord to the point that he would loose his needed rest. It shows his total abandonment to the Father, no matter what. St. Paul said: “God (the Father) was in the Messiah, reconciling the world to himself” (2 Corinthians 5:19; and Colossians 1:19-20). So that God the Father continued to act in Him, even though He was not consciously aware. (He was asleep).

Nada molestaba al Señor hasta el punto de quitarlo del descanso que necesitaba. Esto muestra su abandono total al Padre, pase lo que pase. It is the same word he used to command the demoniac in Mark 1:25. Cuando despierta, vemos que Jesús actuaba con autoridad. Rechaza los vientos con un mando fuerte. Y dice: “¡Cálmate!” (La palabra en Griego es phimao). Es la misma palabra que uso cuando mando al demoníaco en Marcos 1:25.

Have you no faith?” The Apostles responded with reverential awe, in the presence of the inexplicable. Notemos que parece que el Señor quedo algo disgustado con los Apóstoles. Simplemente les dijo: “¿Dónde estaba su fe? ¿Por qué tenían tanto miedo? ¿Aun no tienen fe?” Los Apóstoles quedaron asombrados con reverencia en la presencia de lo inexplicable.

This fulfills Psalm 89:8-9. Speaking about God, it says: “You rule the raging of the sea, when its waves rise, you calm them”. Psalm 93:3-4 says “The floods have lifted up their roaring, Yet mightier is the Lord, than the thunders of many waters, and the waves of the sea.” Psalm 106:9 says: “He made known his mighty power when he rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry; and he led them through the deep, as through a desert.” Isaiah 51:10 says the same.

I like Isaiah 40:28-31. It says: “The Lord is the everlasting God I like Isaiah 40:28-31. It says: “The Lord is the everlasting God. He does not grow faint or grow weary. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might, he increases his strength. Even youths shall faint and grow weary, and young men shall grow exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint!” Glory to God!

Me gusta Isaías 40:28-31 que dice: “ El Señor es sempiterno Dios Me gusta Isaías 40:28-31 que dice: “ El Señor es sempiterno Dios. No desfallece, ni se fatiga con cansancio, y su entendimiento no hay quien lo alcance. Los muchachos se fatigan y se cansan. Los jóvenes flaquean y caen; pero los que esperan a Dios tendrán muchas fuerzas; levantaran las alas como las águilas, correrán, y no se cansaran; caminaran, y no se fatigaran.” ¡Gloria a Dios!

Remember this passage the next time things are not going well, or as well as you like. God never falls asleep. And if Jesus did fall asleep, his Father still kept acting on his behalf, even though Jesus was not conscious. Utter trust in God is a must. Abandon yourself to Him, even when you feel powerless and tired. Our heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are always on the lookout for you and for me. There is no reason why you cannot sleep with the tranquility of a little child in his Mother’s arms, is there? A little child naps often, why not?

Recuerden este pasaje la siguiente vez cuando no esta todo bien, o tan bien como quisieras. Dios nunca duerme. Y si Jesús durmió, su Padre celestial siguió actuando por Él, aunque Jesús no estaba consciente. Plena confianza en Dios es necesaria. Abandónate a Él, aunque te sientas sin poder y cansado. Nuestro Padre celestial, Jesús, y el Espirito Santo siempre están velando por ti y por mí. No hay razón porque no puedas dormir con la confianza de un pequeñuelo en los brazos de su Madre, ¿verdad? Un niño duerme fácil, ¿por qué no?

Some one said: “I know not what the future holds, but I know who holds the future” ! Alguien dijo: “Yo no sé lo que el futuro será, pero ¡sé quien sostiene al futuro!”
