Globally Harmonized System – known as GHS GHS is the result of collaboration between most of the world’s leading governmental safety organizations to create a unified, consistent program for classifying and labeling hazardous materials. It is being adopted by many of the nations of the world. In most cases, GHS will be an addition or modification to current programs (examples: OSHA Hazcom, CCOHS WHMIS). GHS will NOT replace those programs. Aquatic Toxicity A hazardous material that presents a hazard to the environment, specifically damage to water ecosystems and aquatic life. Not mandatory under OSHA regulations. DOT labels include bio-hazard, radioactive and miscellaneous hazard label, but GHS does not. DOT differentiates between flammable liquid and flammable solids, but GHS does not.
