Thursday, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day! All over the world people are going to rock crazy socks and wear yellow or blue for World Down Syndrome day. This is to spread awareness, advocacy and inclusion for individuals with Down Syndrome! A pair of tie-dye blue socks can be purchased to wear for $5.00. All proceeds will go to GiGi’s Playhouse, whose purpose is to change the way the world views Down Syndrome, send a global message of acceptance for all, and provide free resources and services for families. So wear your tie-dye, crazy, or mismatched socks and blue and yellow as a way to remind us that the way we think is really important, and makes a difference to whether people with Down Syndrome feel included or not! Why March 21st? It’s because people with Down Syndrome have three chromosomes on chromosome number 21, instead of the usual two. (Also known as Trisomy 21). I hope you will join us in participating in World Down Syndrome Day by wearing blue and yellow with crazy socks on Thursday, March 21st! We can’t wait to see your crazy socks and celebrate awareness for individuals with Down Syndrome! ____________________________________________________________ Please return the bottom portion of this form with $5.00 cash or check made out to Hanover Highlands Elementary school by Wednesday, March 6th if you’d like to purchase blue tie-dye socks.
