ASSUMPTION OF MARY CELEBRATION Assumption of Mary or Assumption of the Virgin is the belief, according to the tradition and doctrine of the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church and some Protestant denominations such as the Anglicans that the body and soul of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, were taken to Heaven after finishing their days on Earth.
