Rules 1. “se” must change according to the subject (yo) me (nosotros) nos (tú) te (vosotros) os (él) se (ellos) se Ejemplos: I wash my hands Yo me lavo las manos He wakes up Él se despierta They shave Ellos se afeitan

Rules continued 2. a. If verb is conjugated the “reflexive pronoun” goes before the verb. Ella se levanta Nosotros nos acostamos b. If the verb is in the infinitive (not conjugated) the “reflexive pronoun” should be attached. - levantarse - acostarnos

Rules continued 3. When using a reflexive verb with parts of the body, definitite articles should be used Me lavo el pelo con champú y las manos con jabón.

How to conjugate Levantarse 1. Identify the subject (yo, tú, él, ella, ud., nosotros, vosotros, ellos, ellas, uds.) Tú (levantarse) 2. Detach the “se” and conjugate normally Tú levantar se Tú levantas se 3. Place “se” in front of verb and change it according to subject. Tú se levantas Tú te levantas

When do you not conjugate? Do not conjugate the reflexive verb if there is a proceeding verb that is already conjugated. BUT….you must change the “se” to agree with subject Ejemplo: Tú debes bañarte Yo necesito lavarme los dientes
