Fernando de Aragón e Isabel de Castilla These were the first King and Queen of “Spain” as we know it- because the two biggest kingdoms (Aragon and Castilla) were joined. After Isabel died, Ferdinand didn’t want to give up the throne to his daughter even though legally he had to, so he tried to say she was crazy. The story’s pretty interesting (I think)- wikipedia it if you want more details! http://lindsey45220.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/isabel20y20fernando1.jpg Los Reyes Católicos

Juana “La Loca” They said she was crazy because she was insanely jealous of her husband, who traveled a lot, and so was away often. When he died she really lost it. Romantics say she was just in love (all her “symptoms” point to this), but skeptics say she was nuts. http://sakkarah.blogia.com/upload/20070802224910-juana-la-loca.jpg
Felipe I “El Hermoso” He was so handsome that it drove her madly in love. (The students love that he’s “hermoso!”) http://faculty-staff.ou.edu/L/A-Robert.R.Lauer-1/Felipe-el-hermoso.jpe
