STEM-CHANGING VERBS There are some verbs in Spanish that change their root when conjugated from the infinitive These usually happen when the first vowel in the verb is an “e” or “o” Verbs whose first vowel is an “a” will NEVER be stem-changing The “e” goes to an “ie” in 4 of the six conjugations (e→ie) The “o” goes to a “ue” in 4 of the six conjugations (o→ue)
