Objective: to review the Irregular Preterite tense Essential Question: How do the Irregular Preterite conjugations differ from Regular Preterite?

The I-U-J groups have irregular stems and irregular endings.

The irregular endings for the I group is: -e -imos -iste X -o -ieron

Here are the verbs that belong to the I group. hacer (to make, do) hic- querer (to want) quis- venir (to come) vin-

The conjugation of hacer is: hice hicimos hiciste X hizo hicieron (Notice the c changes to z before o.) The conjugation of querer is: quise quisimos quisiste X quiso quisieron

The conjugation of venir is: vine vinimos viniste X vino vinieron

The irregular endings for the U group is: -e -imos -iste X -o -ieron

Some of the U stems are: Andar (to walk) anduv- Estar (to be) estuv- Poder (to be able, can) pud- Poner (to put, place) pus- Saber (to find out) sup- Tener (to have) tuv-
