SPAIN managed to win away to LITHUANIA 1 - 3 in their EURO 2012 Group I qualifier to give them another victory, consolidate the Groups Top spot & put them nearly into the Euro Finals of next year. The match went ahead after UEFA officials & the French referee decided that the turf ( without grass ) was apt to play on & safe. Correct decision as no one from both teams were injured in a game played in good spirits as there was no difficult situations for the referee.  Spanish Coach Del Bosque put the following starting 11: Casillas; Iraola, Piqué, Albiol, Arbeloa; Xabi Alonso, Javi Martínez, Xavi, Cazorla, Villa & Llorente, with At.Bilbao defender Iraola winning an International Cap & other well know stars getting a rest. The match was played well considering the circumstances of the surface with Spain dominating & with Lithuanian goalkeeper Karcemarskas stopping the Spanish forwards. The first goal came in the 19th min via XAVI HERNANDEZ which took a slight deflection to loop over the goalie. The second half saw Spain begin well until Valencia CF defender & Lithuanian Captain STANKEVICIUS got onto a "cracker" from 30 mts to power drive passed Iker Casillas with an unstoppable goal. This raised the confidence of the home team & they put Spain under pressure & gave them their worst 15 mins of Football. Spain reacted with substitutions giving David Silva & Juna Mata a run & it paid off. Spain scored their second in the 70th min via an own goal from defender KIJANSKAS who could do little as Llorente was in clear shot position, then JUAN MATA finished off a nice worked play with a third for Spain in the 83rd min. Great result for Spain & even better was the fact that no one got injured playing on a "terrible" ground, that at least held out the full 90 minutes.

Morcilla frita 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 onion, thinly sliced 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon paprika 8 oz morcilla (black pudding ), cut into 12 thick slices 12 slices of French bread 2 tablespoons fino sherry Sugar, to taste Salt and ground black pepper Chopped fresh oregano, to garnish Preparation Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan and fry the sliced onion, garlic, oregano and paprika for 7-8 minutes until the onion is softened and has turned golden brown. Add the slices of black pudding, then increase the heat and cook them for 3 minutes, without stirring. Turn them over carefully with a spatula and cook for a further 3 minutes until crisp. Arrange the rounds of bread on a large serving plate and to each with a slice of black pudding. Stir the sherry into the onions and add a little sugar to taste. Heat, swirling the mixture around the pan until bubbling, then season with salt and black pepper. Spoon a little of the onion mixture on top of each slice of black pudding. Scatter the oregano over, and serve.

So, let's take a look at Spanish actors ... we'll start with quick biographies of Banderas and Bardem, then continue with the most popular Spanish television celebrities ...

Isabel Allende, is one of Latin America's most celebrated literary figures. The niece of the slain Chilean President Salvador Allende, she writes with the heart of a true romantic but also with an acute sensitivity to social and political conditions. She brings dramatic qualities of romance and struggle, and artfully weaves the infamous “magic realism” genre that is often found in Latin American literature into her writings.

Spain is located in southwestern Europe and comprises about 84 percent of the Iberian Peninsula. Its total area is 504,782 km2 (194,897 sq mi) of which 499,542 km2 (192,874 sq mi) is land and 5,240 km2 (2,023 sq mi) is water.[1] Spain lies between latitudes 26° and 44° N, and longitudes 19° W and 5° E. Its Atlantic coast is 710 km (441 mi) long. The Pyrenees mountain range, extends 435 km (270 mi) from the Mediterranean to the Bay of Biscay. In the extreme south of Spain lie the Straits of Gibraltar, which separate Spain and the rest of Europe from Morocco in north Africa; at its narrowest extent, Spain and Morocco are separated by only 13 km (8.1 mi). Off the Iberian Peninsula there are several other Spanish areas: the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands to the southwest, 108 km (67 mi) off northwest Africa, and five places of sovereignty (plazas de soberanía) on and off the coast of Morocco: Ceuta, Melilla, Islas Chafarinas, Peñón de Alhucemas, and Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera.

Central America has a tropical humid climate Central America has a tropical humid climate. It has no real winter; even the coldest month averages above 18 °C, with summers of 27 to 28 °. The average annual temperature range is lower than the usual daily range, a characteristic which is markedly different from most of North America. Rainfall at 1,100 to 2,000 mm is high and regular.

Although both Jewish and Arabs were officially "expelled" in 1492, that is not completely right: Jewish and Arabic influences were so intricate in the Spanish people that everybody should have abandoned the country if the rule were strict (There are estimations saying 80% of Spanish population have Jewish origins, and I would bet 95% have Arabic origins as well). The thing is that Jews and Arabs left (or at least those who did not want to reconvert into Christians, and had the resources to leave the county, travelling was not something very easy in 1492...), but the Jewish and Arabic influence has remained in Spain since then. It is difficult to left influences behind, specially when thy are for good!

Cinema in Spanish is a prosperous industry whose booming phenomenon can be observed each year as more films are presented in various movie festivals or are nominated/awarded Hollywood’s infamous gilded globe of the Golden Globes ceremony & the golden statues of the Academy Awards (Oscars) or the small bronze trophy bust of Spanish painter Francisco de Goya in Spain’s much anticipated annual national awards – Los Premios Goya.
