Spanish verbs Apuntes de gramática

Spanish verbs Infinitives are the most basic form of a verb. What is an Infinitive? Infinitives are the most basic form of a verb. They are the “generic” form  you don’t know WHOis doing the action or WHEN the action is occurring. In English, you can identify infinitives because they usually have the word “to” in front of them. Examples: to read to write to play Infinitives in Spanish are just one word and they always end in two certain letters: -ar, -er, -ir

Spanish verbs In summary: The infinitive is the base form of the verb, such as to speak, to eat, to live, etc. In Spanish, all infinitives end in -ar, -er, or -ir. Many Spanish verbs are completely regular, meaning that they follow a specific pattern of conjugation.

Conjugating verbs in Spanish In both English and Spanish, the purpose of conjugation is to indicate the number of the subject (singular or plural), tense (such as past or future). Spanish uses conjugation more extensively than English, so much so that it is often possible to omit the subject from sentences.
