ECOSISTEMA DEL LAGO ALFONSO Y ESTELA 4ºB

Lake A lake (from Latin lacus) is a body of fresh water, to a considerable extent, which is separated from the sea. The water supply to the lakes from rivers, groundwater and precipitation on the water surface. The lakes are formed in topographic depressions created by a variety of geological processes such as plate tectonics, mass movements, volcanism, forming bars, and even glaciers action meteorite impacts. There are also lakes artificially created by building a dam. The great lakes that have no outlet to the sea are also called "closed seas" as the Caspian Sea, but the rule is not clear, because it speaks of the Dead Sea and the Great Salt Lake. Sometimes it is proposed to distinguish the seas of lakes by the character of salty seawater and freshwater lakes. Another example of a lake that has no outlet to the sea is Lake Valencia in Venezuela.
