What is HIV? Que es el VIH? It is a virus that attacks our immune system. It is a retrovirus. It has RNA not DNA as its genetic material. Es un virus que ataca nuestro sistema inmunológico. Es un retrovirus. Tiene RNA no DNA como su material genético.

How can we contract HIV? Como se contrae el VIH? Why cant your body defend itself? Effects/ Efectos You don’t die from the HIV infection, rather you die from the diseases/infections you get because your body can’t defend itself. (ex: pneumonia) Why cant your body defend itself? These infections are called OPPORTUNISTIC INFECTIONS.
