De De means of and from

De De is used to tell where someone is from. María es de México.

De Indicate what type of thing youre describing. Los libros de amor Books of love (romance books) Las películas de misterio. Books of mystery (mystery books)

De Used to show possession (ownership) or relationship. Es el carro de Marco. It is the car of Marco. Son los amigos de Lela. They are the friends of Lela.

Contractions De + el = del (of the) De + la = de la (of the) De + los = de los (of the) De + las = de las (of the)
