En el exterior se encuentra la plaza de la democracia debido a que fue ahí mismo donde Francisco I. Madero convoco a estudiantes y maestros a favor de las ideas anti-reeleccionistas, a la vuelta la plaza John Lennon, la antigua calle alatriste y el teatro Ignacio Ibarra Mazarí En la parte alta se encuentran las oficinas de la rectoría, el salón de protocolos, salón para ninfo, el salón barroco, radio BUAP y sala de proyecciones.
