What is an adjective? A word that describes someone or something. In Spanish adjectives must agree with the noun in: NUMBER (SINGULAR/PLURAL) GENDER (MASCULINE/FEMININE)

Adjectives that end in “o” If an adjective ends with “o” it is an adjective that changes according to gender. “o” is for masculine nouns “a” is for feminine nouns Carlos es simpático. Clara es simpática.

Más Mis amigos son simpáticos. Mis amigas son simpáticas. 4 possibilities for adjectives ending in “o” ◦Oa◦Oa ◦ Osas

Adjectives that end in “e” These adjectives are UNIVERSAL They are both masculine and feminine There are 2 possibilities for adjectives ending in “e” ◦ e es ◦ inteligenteinteligentes Mi amigo es inteligente. Mis amigos son inteligentes.

Adjectives that end in a consonant They remain the same for a singular noun Ex: Ana es intelectual.  Raúl es intelectual.  To make them plural, add “es”  Ellos son intelectuales.

Ojo When you use an adjective with a noun in the sentence, you place the adjective after the noun. This is unlike English. She is a pretty girl. Ella es una chica bonita. In Spanish the sentence reads: She is a girl pretty.

Práctica 1. We are athletic. (boys) 2. I am tall and blond. (girl) 3. My friends are funny. (boys/girls) 4. You are very lazy. (boy)

Respuestas 1. Nosotros somos atléticos. 2. Soy alta y rubia. 3. Mis amigos son cómicos. 4. Tú eres muy perezoso.
