Radical Changing/Stem Changing Verbs These are a big group of irregular verbs in Spanish. The first part of the verb changes when stressed. There are 3 types: U changing to ue e.g. juego (jugar) O changes to ue e.g. puedo (poder) E changes to ie e.g. prefiero (preferir) These changes do not happen in the nosotros and vosotros parts of the verb, because the stress is not on the stem.
