Preterite i > y Stem Change Verbs Verbs ending in –uir, -aer, and -eer have a spelling change in the preterite. Change the i in the stem to a y in the third person singular (él…) and third person plural (ellos…)forms. *GROUND FLOOR/33 VERBS

Preterite i > y Stem Change Verbs With the exception of verbs ending in –uir, these verbs have a written accent on the i of all the preterite forms. These verbs share the same common irregular preterite verb endings (e, iste, o, imos, isteis, ieron)
