3 Los Días de la Semana lunes martes miércoles jueves viernes sábado domingo It is important to notice that the days of the week are NOT capitalized in Spanish. There are two words that have accent marks that MUST be there! Which ones are they?

4 Los Meses del Año enero febrero marzo abril mayo junio julio agosto septiembre octubre noviembre diciembre It is important to notice that the months of the year are NOT capitalized in Spanish. Be careful with the spelling – you will be tempted to spell things like you do in English because they are so similar.

5 How do you say the date in Spanish?

6 La Fecha Start with the number  el 11 – You will always say “el” before the number – On the first day of the month, you will NOT say the number 1. Instead, you will say “el primero”. Next, you will give the month  de enero – You will always say “de” before the month Then you give the year  de 2015 – You will always say “de” before the year – Also, the year is said as the whole number, it is no “chunked”. So it will actually be two thousand fifteen instead of twenty fifteen. el 11 de enero de 2015 – el once de enero de dos mil quince

10 How do you ask… What is the date? – ¿Cuál es la fecha? When is your birthday? – ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?

11 How do you respond? ¿Cuál es la fecha? – Hoy es el 28 de agosto de 2015. ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? – Mi cumpleaños es el 28 de agosto.

12 ¡PRACTICAMOS! Ask a partner when his or her birthday is. Be prepared for Señorita to ask you when your birthday is.
