In Spanish we “Conjugate” verbs to match the subject. Conjugate?!!! – To change the ending of a word to match the subject (who we are speaking about).

A Spanish verb has two parts The stem Comprar = compr- Organizar = organiz- Escribir (to write) = escrib- Comer (to eat) =com- The ending (ar/ir/er) Comprar = ar Organizar = ar Escribir (to write) = ir Comer (to eat) = er

To conjugate… #1 -We keep the stem and pull off the ending Comprar compr- #2 keep the ending in your pocket… and take a look at the subject.

Remember our subject pronouns??? I =yo He = She = tú You = You (formal) =Usted ella él Them (girls) = Them (guys)= You guys = us = You guys (formal) = Ustedes ellas ellos vosotros nosotros

One more thing! What is the difference between Escribir & escribo????? – Escribir is “infinitive” in English it means “to write” – escribo is conjugated (for the subject) in English it means “I write” All verbs ending in AR/IR/ER are infinitive; they mean “to…” – Escribir (to write), comer (to eat), comprar (to buy), hacer (to do)
