5 D is for Dismissal Please send a SEPARATE HAND- WRITTEN NOTE if your child is going home a different way than usual. Email is not always reliable. Call the school office before 1:00 P.M. 6 E is for Early Release 12:30 P.M. The dates are October 9th, November 3 rd, 4 th, February 12 th, 23 rd and 24 th. We will have parent/teacher conferences in November and student-led conferences the second semester. 12:30PM Las fechas serán el 9 de octubre, 3 y 4 de noviembre y el 12, 23 y 24 de febrero. 7 F is for Four Blocks Self Selected Reading Teacher read-aloud, independent reading at students’ own ability level, discuss reading, assess progress. Guided Reading Consists of whole group reading instruction, small guided reading instruction with different ability groups, and differentiated center activities to meet all ability levels. Working With Words (PHONICS/SPELLING/HANDWRI TING) Consists of whole language and phonics instruction while incorporating handwriting skills. Writing Workshop Consists of 10 minute mini-lesson, independent writing time, and share time. Instruction also incorporates handwriting skills.

9 H is for Homework Homework will be sent home in the Take Home Folder on Monday. Reading for 20 minutes a night is part of homework. This must be done daily to promote good reading habits. Homework should be done neatly and in pencil. Please sit with your child and encourage good habits such as proper spacing, neat handwriting, correct letter and number formation. 11 I is for Involvement Read and practice skills as much as possible! Please check the folder and empty it everyday. Make sure you are DPS cleared if you plan to help in the classroom or on field trips. Lean y practiquen la mayor cantidad de destrezas que sea posible. 20 R is for Respect and Responsibility S is for Self-Control Daily reflection calendar You and your child can reflect on his/her school day If a child receives a “mark” for not using the school virtues or following the school rules, there will be a note written in the folder.
