2 When do we need future tense? In English we use future tense to express what we’re going to do, what we will do…it’s the same in Spanish! *Some words that indicate future in Spanish: Mañana Pasado mañana Por la mañana Esta noche Esta tarde Hoy La semana que viene El verano que viene

3 *There are two ways to express the future: 1.ir (present tense) + a + infinitive 2. the future tense (seen more in written Spanish)

4 #1. IR + A+ INFINITIVE STEP 1: CONJUGATE IR IN THE PRESENT TENSE. STEP 2 : ADD “A” STEP 3: ADD THE INFINITIVE VERB (unconjugated verb) Ex: I’m going to watch a movie.  Voy a mirar una película. VoyVamos Vas x VaVan

5 Practice: Translate: 1.I am going to eat pizza tonight. 2.We are going to study tomorrow. 3.The helicopter is going to land now.

6 #2: THE FUTURE TENSE To form the future tense add the following endings to the infinitive verb: Ex: cantaré, cantarás, cantará… (I will sing, you will sing, he will sing…) éemos ás áán The endings are the same for AR, ER & IR verbs!!

10 Using the irregulars in the future Add the future tense endings to the irregular stems! Ex: tendré, tendrás, tendrá … éemos ás áán IRREG. STEM +
