4 The Simple Future This tense is used to indicate future events, whether in the near or distant future. i.e. I will go on holiday next year

5 How do I form the simple future? Most Spanish verbs are regular in the future. For each person there is a set ending, which is added to the whole of the infinitive: Person Ending Yo = Tú = él/ ella = Nosotros = Vosotros = ellos/ ellas = é ás á emos éis án

6 -AR HABLAR=TO SPEAK hablaré hablarás hablará hablaremos hablaréis hablarán =I will speak =You will speak =He/ she will speak =We will speak =You will speak =They will speak For example:

7 -ER COMER= TO EAT Comeré Comerás Comerá Comeremos Comeréis comerán = I will eat = you will eat = he/she will eat = we will eat = you will eat = they will eat

8 -IR VIVIR= TO LIVE Viviré Vivirás Vivirá Viviremos Viviréis Vivirán = I will live = you will live = He/she will live = We will live = You will live =They will live

9 Irregular Future Forms. A few verbs are irregular in the future tense. These verbs use a variation of the infinitive as a stem. Here are some. The endings are the same as those for regular verbs. infinitivemeaningstem decir hacer poder poner saber salir tener venir to say to do/ make to be able to to put to know to go out to have to come dir- har- podr- pondr- sabr- saldr- tendr- vendr- i.e. tendré = I will have/ saldré = I will go out
