Hace…que The expression “Hace…que” changes meaning when used in the present, preterite or imperfect. Hace + (time period) + que + (…present…) = Have (has) been doing something for an amount of time. Hace seis años que estudio español. I have been studying Spanish for 6 years. 17

Hace…que Hace + (time period) +que + (…preterite…)= “ago” Hace dos días que mis padres regresaron de Inglaterra. My parents returned from England 2 days ago. 18

Hace…que Hacía + (time period)+ que +(…imperfect…) = Had been doing something for a period of time. Hacía 6 meses que salían cuando se casaron. They had been going out for 6 months when they got married. 19
